Rev. Stephen Hislop (8th Sept 1817 to 4th Sept 1863), after whom the college is named, was an evangelist, educationist and geologist.

• The Department of Marathi has been in the forefront of developments in Marathi literature.

The college owns and maintains a 46,000 sq mt playground where several tournaments are held. The college possesses a basketball court, a badminton court, a volleyball court, a table-tennis table, a boxing ring, and facilities for several indoor games.
